What the French Ministry of Culture records

Château construit à la fin du 15e siècle par Rigaud d'Aureille, maître d'hôtel de Louis XI, puis modifié sous Louis XIII. L'édifice présente une cour carrée bordée de trois corps de logis et d'une terrasse. Avant d'entrer dans l'enceinte intérieure, une porte en anse de panier donne accès à une basse cour. L'enceinte intérieure est entourée de fossés et présente une forme carrée flanquée de quatre tours cylindriques. Sous Louis XIII sont ajoutées les ailes Est et ouest, les portes et fenêtres sont refaites. Menuiseries et serrureries du 15e siècle. La cour intérieure est ornée, sous la galerie du rez-de-chaussée, de peintures humoristiques à fresque. Ces peintures se composent de cinq motifs : le dict de l'astrologue ; le dict du vieux maître d'hôtel ; le dict de la Bigorne ; le dict de la Chiche-face ; une dernière légende concerne les maris trompés.
