What the French Ministry of Culture records

Ancienne maison-forte remontant sans doute au 15e siècle, comme en témoignent les quatre tours qui la cantonnent, transformée au 18e et au début du 19e siècle pour en faire une demeure rurale. Le château actuel, édifié sur une terrasse, se compose de trois corps de bâtiments entourant une cour rectangulaire : le corps de logis ; le commun ; au sud, un bâtiment contenant l'ancienne chapelle. Ce château est un bon représentant de l'architecture auvergnate traditionnelle.
