To make a day of it

Château de Parentignat stands in Parentignat (Puy-de-Dôme), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: first half of the 18th century). Adult admission costs 12 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

At Parentignat, a few kilometres from Issoire, an 18th-century château has kept its original furnishings and houses the collection of French paintings assembled by art historian Georges de Lastic. The house, held by the same family since it was acquired in 1707, has a courtyard flanked by round towers and a long garden facade lined with fifteen bays. Visitors see interiors largely unchanged since the 18th century, including formal salons, period bedrooms and a ballroom.
