Le château d'Aulteribe est un vaste édifice du 15e siècle, de plan trapézoïdal avec des bastions d'angle. Il a été remanié au 17e siècle (percement de nombreuses ouvertures) et au 19e siècle (escalier monumental, ajout d'échauguettes et de machicoulis). L'ensemble a été légué à la Caisse nationale des monuments historiques (devenue le centre des monuments nationaux) en 1954.
