In Saint-Priest-Bramefant, in the Puy-de-Dôme department, the château de Maulmont overlooks the Allier valley from within a wooded park. Built around 1840 by Pascal Lepaige and enlarged around 1890 under architect H. Vianne, the building displays a full neo-gothic vocabulary of battlements, machicolations, a bartizan and a mock portcullis. One wing incorporates a Renaissance portal salvaged from the former Saint-Barthélémy hospital in Clermont, and the interiors combine neo-gothic and neo-Renaissance decor.
