Edifié au 14e et au 15e siècle, le château n'a subi que des modifications mineures dans ses percements, exception faite de la tourelle élevée au 19e siècle, de style néo-gothique, dans l'angle Est de la cour. Ces transformations, sans doute de la fin du 15e siècle puis du 18e, ont effacé l'aspect militaire et purement médiéval de l'édifice.
