What the French Ministry of Culture records

Edifié au début du 12e siècle ou au début du 13e siècle, c'était à l'origine un château féodal composé d'un donjon massif flanqué de quatre tours, protégé par trois tours détachées reliées par une enceinte, et entouré de douves. Au 16e siècle, l'édifice reçut un décor italianisant à ses galeries extérieures soutenant des terrasses, ainsi que la chapelle dont les vitraux sont du 16e et du 17e siècle. De ce dernier siècle et du 18e datent les transformations de la salle-à-manger et du grand salon au plafond peint. Du parc du 17e siècle, que les propriétaires avaient projeté de transformer à la fin du 18e siècle, ne subsistent que trois bassins au milieu d'une vaste prairie où se trouvent deux petits pavillons du 18e siècle. Les communs datent du 18e siècle.
