What the French Ministry of Culture records

Ce château, de type « philippien », à plan quadrangulaire, remonte au début du 13ème siècle. Seule la tour sud-ouest dite « donjon » subsiste de cette époque. Elle présente, au dernier niveau, une remarquable rangée d'archères « en rame » et, au troisième étage, la salle du seigneur possède un décor original de chapiteaux et clés de voûte au motif de créquier. Les autres tours d'angles ainsi que les logis est et ouest datent du 14ème ou 15ème siècle. Au 17ème siècle, le logis sud fut construit (ou reconstruit) et le mur d'enceinte nord, abattu ouvrant la perspective vers le village.
