Saint-Gervazy Castle is a fortress erected in the early thirteenth century on a square plan typical of the Philippian style. Its oldest element, the south-west corner keep, preserves remarkable features of medieval military architecture: row-loopholes at the uppermost level and, within the lord's hall, decorative capitals and vault keystones bearing cinquefoil motifs. The remaining buildings date from the following centuries, with additions during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, then reconstruction of the southern residential wing in the seventeenth century.
