What the French Ministry of Culture records

Ensemble médiéval des 13e (donjon) et 14e siècles, remanié au 17e siècle (logis sud). Les restes du château constituent d'intéressants vestiges d'une forteresse appartenant à une lignée de places défendant la Comté et le Dauphiné d'Auvergne. Le château a conservé son donjon et ses courtines nord et sud. En 1761, le château, déjà en ruines, est racheté par des propriétaires qui le divisent en plusieurs parties.
