In Cognat-Lyonne, a few kilometres from Vichy, the château de Rilhat is a fortified manor dating from the 15th century, with later alterations. Its rectangular main building is flanked by two round towers, while a square tower still stands before the north facade, a remnant of the original defences. Inside, a painted beamed ceiling from the late Renaissance survives, decorated with floral motifs on black and white backgrounds. A former defensive tower, converted into a dovecote, completes this example of Bourbonnais manorial architecture.
