Château du Saulou stands in Pechs-de-l'Espérance (Dordogne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. What the French Ministry of Culture records

La famille de Gimel, installée à Carlux, partagea vers 1525-1530 ses biens pour possessionner sa descendance. L'une de ses branches fit construire le château du Saulou à Cazoulès. Celui-ci passa, en 1708, entre les mains des Camon, notables Sarladais, puis en 1808, à la famille actuelle. La demeure fut agrandie et remodelée aux 16e, 17e et 18e siècles. Elle se compose d'un logis rectangulaire, renforcé de deux tours rondes et d'une échauguette, prolongé à l'ouest de deux travées supplémentaires, et encore agrandi au nord-ouest d'un pavillon quadrangulaire. L'intérieur a conservé d'intéressants éléments de décors : lambris et boiseries du 18e siècle, cheminées du 17e dont l'une est ornée d'une lapidation de Saint-Etienne, peinte sur la hotte. Face au côté sud, les écuries ont été réalisées au début du 17e siècle.
