What the French Ministry of Culture records

Fénelon est, d'une part, un exemple très intéressant de forteresse gasconne composée de bâtiments et de fortifications allant du 12e au 16e siècle, aménagés au 17e siècle pour les nécessités d'une résidence confortable et comportant, outre son système défensif bien conservé, ses dépendances (écuries, caves, cellier, métairies). Quelques pièces conservent leurs boiseries du 17e siècle. Protégé par une enceinte fortifiée de tours, le château présente un corps de logis barlong avec deux parties en retour d'équerre. La terrasse date du 17e siècle, les tours du 15e, la façade principale du 16e et la partie Est doit remonter au 14e siècle, du moins dans ses parties basses. Demeure natale de Fénelon.
