In the Lot department, the château de Masclat grew from a medieval nucleus linked to the Cardaillac family in the 13th century, eventually taking on an H shaped plan. A central square tower and a northern tower still bear witness to the earliest window openings, complemented by a stair turret set into a corner during the 15th or 16th century. Traces of this original construction survive within the half buried cellars, even though the facades and interior arrangement were altered across the 18th and 19th centuries. The courtyard is flanked by two outbuildings, the older dating to the 17th century and the more recent to the 19th, this last one erected using stones salvaged from the former priory of Camilnel.
