The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 16th century, 18th century, first quarter of the 20th century). What the French Ministry of Culture records
Le fort était constitué à l'origine d'un donjon et d'un bâtiment accolé. Le château fut reconstruit après l'incendie de 1586 provoqué par les guerres de Religion, en le prolongeant, au nord, par un logis flanqué d'une tour ronde. A l'intérieur, les pièces de réception du rez-de-chaussée ont conservé leur décor du début du 20e siècle. Le grand salon est orné d'une cheminée monumentale en bois, décorée de trois niches, de mufles de lions et de consoles inversées. La pièce est couverte par un plafond à caissons décorés de peintures azur et or et à cabochons. Le salon vert a conservé quelques panneaux moulurés de style 18e. Le bureau proche de la cuisine possède une cheminée de pierre du 14e siècle. Le parc à l'anglaise qui entoure le château est l'oeuvre d'Edouard André et date de 1910.
