What the French Ministry of Culture records

Château composé d'un corps de logis à un étage, flanqué de quatre pavillons de plan en losange destiné à favoriser le flanquement et à proscrire tout angle mort. La façade d'entrée a été remaniée quand l'immeuble a été transformé en tribunal, après 1820. La présence de pilastres, de consoles en forme de triglyphes et les linteaux ornés de motifs géométriques, ne sont pas antérieurs au début du 17e siècle. Le château actuel ne peut être celui qui subit le siège protestant de 1576. Pour la première fois dans l'histoire du château français, le plan répond à une formule standardisée que l'architecte et ingénieur Dominique Bachelier utilise en de multiples occasions.
