Château de Palays stands in Montesquieu-Volvestre (Haute-Garonne), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century, 16th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Château de Palays stands in Montesquieu-Volvestre, on the historic border between the counties of Toulouse and Foix, where the Arize river meets a small stream. Built from the 15th century onward, it has kept the look of a plain fortress: a central courtyard flanked by two wings set at right angles and a brick wall reinforced with round towers. A wall-walk, battlements and machicolations recall its defensive purpose, though the ramparts were heavily restored in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
