In Fornex, in the Ariège department, this fifteenth-century castle was the main residence of the Foix-Rabat family. Built on a quadrangular plan flanked by four round towers, two of which are now in ruins, it still shows traces of the moat that once surrounded it. A ribbed vaulted passage and a room known as the chapel can be seen in the northeast tower, bearing late Gothic and Renaissance carved decoration. The north and west wings, demolished between the French Revolution and the nineteenth century, left the building in the composite state visible today.
