What the French Ministry of Culture records

Première référence de la baronnie en 1028. Construction puis remaniements du château aux 15e, 16e et 17e siècles. En 1789, le château n'échappe pas au vandalisme de la Révolution. A cette époque, les écussons sont grattés, le château pillé et les bâtiments confisqués. En 1836, le château accueille les soeurs Saint-Joseph. En 1930, construction d'une chapelle près de celle des seigneurs d'Estaing (15e siècle). Après la Seconde guerre mondiale, le château se transforme en maison de retraite pour religieuses. Le château est constitué de bâtiments de hauteurs différentes organisés autour d'une terrasse.
