What the French Ministry of Culture records
Le château a été construit au 15e siècle par les évêques de Cahors et est resté leur propriété jusqu'en 1905. L'édifice comprend, au sud, un grand corps de bâtiment assis sur l'arête du coteau, avec deux ailes perpendiculaires au nord, entourant une cour carrée fermée au nord par l'ancien mur d'enceinte dans lequel s'ouvre la porte d'entrée. L'accès à celle-ci se fait par un pont sur le fossé, remplaçant l'ancien pont-levis. Les autres parties du château datent du 17e siècle, avec quelques remaniements au 18e. Les terrasses extérieures, les perrons et escaliers datent du 18e siècle. Les façades sur la cour, ainsi que l'escalier principal à rampes droites, ont conservé leur ordonnance du 17e siècle avec des fenêtres à meneaux carrés. Les intérieurs ont été refaits au 19e siècle, mais certaines salles ont conservé leurs plafonds à la française avec poutres apparentes.
