To make a day of it

Château de Fontanges stands in Onet-le-Château (Aveyron), in the Occitanie region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

A few kilometres from Rodez, on the road to the Marcillac valley, the Château de Fontanges stands on a fortified terrace carved into the limestone plateau. Rebuilt at the end of the 16th century by the Balaguier family, it still has its two towers, a gallery and a main house whose double-flight staircase once opened onto gardens. Visitors can still see the gun loops that testify to its defensive purpose, along with trompe-l'oeil paintings on the upper floor.
