Château de Paluel stands in Saint-Vincent-le-Paluel (Dordogne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century). Adult admission costs 8.7 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Set on a rocky spur above the Énéa valley in the Périgord noir, Paluel castle still bears the marks of a turbulent past: burned down in 1944, left to the undergrowth for decades, and bought as a ruin in 2017 by a young restorer from the Dordogne. Visitors come for the main building flanked by towers and its 12th-century keep, and for the ongoing rescue work visible in the stonework. The site has also served as a film location, notably for a movie starring Jean Gabin and Louis de Funès.
