Built in the 15th century by Colas de Péret, secretary to Duke John II of Bourbon, Bien-Assis is a noble residence that preserves late medieval features. Its architecture combines a rectangular two-storey main building with a square staircase tower flanked by a circular turret. The interior displays Renaissance wall paintings depicting the story of Judith and Holofernes, as well as Flamboyant Gothic fireplaces and doors still fitted with their original ironwork.
What to know

- On the first floor, a painted ceiling displays flowers and interlaced motifs in trompe-l'œil, while a small room retains stencilled rinceaux decorations.
- A crenellated terrace and a fire watch room complete the defensive layout of the castle.
