Two eras stand side by side: the ruined old castle, with its defensive works and bridge, and the newer residence with neo-gothic towers and turrets, mullioned windows and an Italian-style arcaded gallery. The site was the birthplace of François de Beaucaire de Péguillon, bishop of Metz in the 16th century, and later belonged to the Luylier de la Souchère family.
