To make a day of it

Château des Robinières stands in Scorbé-Clairvaux (Vienne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château des Robinières stands at the Haut Clairvaux locality, in the commune of Scorbé-Clairvaux, in the Vienne department. Built from 1524 onward by Hugues Lucas, it retains the outline of a fortified 16th century residence, surrounded by moats whose retaining walls and bridges still remain. Visitors can also see the entrance gateway and a dovecote, remnants of a period when the Lucas family had to negotiate with the neighbouring lords of Clairvaux for permission to fortify their house.
