To make a day of it

Château de la Tour d'Oyré stands in Availles-en-Châtellerault (Vienne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century, 16th century, 19th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

At the entrance to Availles-en-Châtellerault, the Tour d'Oyré castle shows a rectangular main building flanked by two towers with a covered walkway. The site dates back to the late 12th century, though its present appearance owes much to 19th-century alterations, particularly inside. Visible from the road within a large surrounding park, the building has passed through the hands of bishops and lords over the centuries.
