What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château est représentatif du domaine bourbonnais classique à la composition ordonnancée : pavillon d'entrée, allée d'accès, cour d'honneur fermée par le château et deux ailes de bâtiments de communs flanqués de tours rondes. Le château primitif fut remanié vers 1880 par l'architecte Emile Dadolle. La structure primitive (logis central et pavillon carré) fut surélevée et percée de baies régulières ; la façade fut dotée d'une terrasse couverte par une marquise et ornée d'un décor de style ecclectique (baies neo-gothiques et neo-Renaissance, ferronneries neo 18e siècle...). Cet édifice est historiquement lié à des personnages importants comme Du Guesclin ou Jacques Coeur.
