Standing on a rocky spur above the gorges of the Oulas stream, Paulin castle rises in Paulinet, in the Tarn department, with origins dating back to the 10th century. The building still bears traces of its defensive past, including gun loops, remnants of fortifications and a keep, alongside later alterations that turned it into a more comfortable residence over the centuries. Its two wings, set at an angle, do not connect internally and show mismatched floor levels, reflecting building campaigns carried out from the Middle Ages to the 19th century.
