In Noyant-d'Allier, a sandstone keep overlooking the Queune valley still retains its battlement walkway and machicolations, remnants of a watchtower built for the Dukes of Bourbon. Reworked in the 19th century to make it habitable, it combines neo-Gothic window openings with period interiors, panelling and moulded ceilings. Around it, part of the medieval enclosure with its square towers survives, set within a landscaped park planted in the mid-19th century by Treyve, featuring oaks, sequoias and rose walks.
