What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château de Mortillon est à l'origine un manoir féodal dont la motte est encore visible dans le pré, à l'est du château. Le remaniement de l'ancien édifice fut engagé au début du 16ème siècle. Le corps de logis, de plan rectangulaire, à deux niveaux, fut l'objet de premières transformations au 17ème siècle mais il convient de noter que la restauration de la toiture est d'époque récente. Deux grosses tours rondes, vestiges de la maison forte du 15ème siècle, ont cependant été conservées, en façade du bâtiment. Faiblement éclairées de modestes ouvertures, elles se distinguent par leurs toits coniques élancés.
