To make a day of it

Château de Cypierre stands in Volesvres (Saône-et-Loire), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 14th century, 15th century, 16th century, 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Standing on a mound at Volesvres in Saône-et-Loire, the Château de Cypierre combines several building periods: a keep largely dating from the 12th century, a 14th century stair turret, and later wings added in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is privately owned and can only be seen from the outside, its massive tower paired with a turret bearing two bretèches, the last trace of its former defences. Over the centuries it passed through the Cypierre, Marcilly, Perrin and finally Bastard families, through marriages and sales.
