In the Lot department, the château de Montcléra rises with its square keep and round machicolated towers within a park, a remnant of a lordship established in the 14th century. The current building, erected in the 15th century and later altered during the Renaissance, retains a notably fortified entrance gate pierced by two round-arched passages once defended by drawbridges. Traces of an old crenellation and the murder holes guarding access to the courtyard are still visible.
