The château des Junies stands in the village bearing its name, in the Lot department, on the foundations of a 13th century stronghold that was destroyed during the Hundred Years' War and later rebuilt. The wide mullioned windows on the first floor date from a 16th century building phase, while the interior fittings reflect work carried out in the 18th century. Visitors can see the barrel vaulted ground floor, pierced with arrow slits, which once covered the whole footprint of the building and served for storage as well as defence. The two towers, now without their upper parts, still recall the defensive character of the original structure.
