What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château fut bâti sur un plan très irrégulier dû au rocher sur lequel il est assis et dont il épouse les contours. Plan à cinq angles principaux, quatre étant renforcés par des tourelles élevées au 15e siècle. Le donjon, partie la plus ancienne, devait remonter au milieu ou à la fin du 13e siècle. De l'ensemble des bâtiments du château il ne reste que trois salles du début du 14e siècle, ainsi que la chapelle qui leur faisait suite. Les remparts ont en partie disparu. Seules restent encore visibles les tours nord et ouest.
