Situé dans l'ancienne basse-cour du château, cet édifice est la première demeure de l'écuyer Murat de Montaï mentionné dès 1545. La position de ce logis dans l'enclos de Murat reflète la permanence d'une disposition médiévale. Sa typologie architecturale est peu représentée dans le Lot.
