In Deviat, in the Charente department, the Château de la Faye stands on a circular platform once surrounded by moats fed by three ponds. Two wings meeting at a right angle reflect different periods: the north-south wing retains fifteenth-century gables and mullioned windows, while the other, altered in the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, has a mansard roof with triangular-pedimented dormers. The approach runs along an avenue of chestnut trees and over a two-arched bridge crossing the former moat.
