What the French Ministry of Culture records

La seigneurie d'Avauges remonte au 14ème siècle. En 1555, elle fut vendue à la famille d'Albon qui s'y installa à la fin du 16ème siècle ou au début du 17ème siècle. On trouve d'importantes maçonneries médiévales dans l'aile ouest qui subit de notables remaniements à l'occasion de l'installation de la famille. Les voûtes du sous-sol et du rez-de-chaussée résultent probablement de cette campagne. Une des deux cheminées du sous-sol porte leurs armes. En 1765, des travaux importants sont entrepris sur la façade nord du corps central. La physionomie actuelle de la façade ouest est issue d'une relecture néo-gothique qui daterait du second empire. La chapelle, consacrée à Saint-Camille en 1730, présente un décor Empire. La grande salle à manger comporte de belles boiseries néo-rocaille.
