To make a day of it

Château de Bagnols stands in Bagnols (Rhône), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

On a hillside above Bagnols, in the golden stone country, stands a former fortified castle whose origins go back to the 13th century, substantially altered in later periods. Built on a pentagonal plan, it retains its surrounding wall, round towers, moat with its bridges, and a terraced garden with loggias and a pool. Inside, several rooms preserve their old decoration, including a vaulted fruit-store room and a chapel. The estate now operates as a luxury hotel and is not open to the public as a heritage site.
