In the commune of Marcilly-d'Azergues, northwest of Lyon, the château de Janzé stands on the slope of a small valley overlooking the Azergues valley. The present building, parts of which date back to the 12th and 15th centuries, retains the layout of a former fortified castle reworked during the 17th and 18th centuries. The rectangular main block, flanked by two round towers with pointed slate roofs, opens onto three courtyards lined with outbuildings and an 18th-century chapel, set within a ten-hectare park.
