To make a day of it

Château de Chazay stands in Chazay-d'Azergues (Rhône), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument. No visits are on record for this building.

The château de Chazay-d'Azergues overlooks the village that bears its name, at the entrance to the Azergues valley northwest of Lyon. Once a stronghold of the abbots of Ainay, who became barons of Chazay, it retains a tall dwelling flanked by four corner towers and a polygonal stair tower, built largely in the 15th century under abbot Théodore du Terrail. Of the three enclosures that once protected the site, only scattered remains survive within today's village, such as the Castellum gate or the truncated tower near the church.
