To make a day of it

Château de Lissieu stands in Lissieu (Rhône), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument. The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Lissieu stands in the centre of the village, northwest of Lyon, on a site held since the 12th century by the lords of Beaujeu. Altered at the end of the 16th century and restored in the 19th, the building still shows a cylindrical keep, a residential wing and a walled enclosure flanked by towers. The main gate, topped with a bretèche and flanked by two round towers, recalls the sieges and attacks the site endured during the Wars of Religion.
