Château de la Rochelambert stands in Saint-Paulien (Haute-Loire), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century). Adult admission costs 8 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Set against a wall of basalt rock in the Borne valley, the château de la Rochelambert overlooks a ravine near Saint-Paulien in the Haute-Loire region. Its foundations date to the 12th century, though the building seen today owes much to a rebuilding effort following a Protestant attack in 1562. George Sand stayed here and used it as the setting for her novel Jean de la Roche, and Jean Cocteau shot scenes for La Belle et la Bête on its staircase and façade. Visitors can now see a collection of medieval art assembled by an antiquarian in the 20th century.
