Perched on a rocky spur above Bas-en-Basset, the ruins of Rochebaron castle recall a stronghold built in the 14th century on the border between the Velay and Forez regions. Abandoned from the 17th century onward and later left without an owner, the site has been preserved by volunteers since the 1970s, who now organise its visits.
