What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le domaine est modernisé dès 1843 avec l’aménagement de nouvelles écuries, d’une orangerie et de serres. En 1861, le propriétaire fait appel à Viollet-le-Duc pour établir les plans d’un nouveau château. L’édifice doit être construit en brique et pierre dorée pour créer un ensemble homogène avec le domaine. Il est dessiné dans un style néo-15e siècle, agrémenté d’éléments néo-Louis XIII, notamment. De nouveaux agrandissements et ajouts interviendront jusqu’à la fin du 19e siècle et au tout début du 20e.
