To make a day of it

Schloss Syburg stands in Bergen (Landkreis Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Syburg is a moated castle set on a plateau of the Weißenburg Alb, close to the hamlet of Thalmannsfeld to which it once belonged administratively. First recorded in 1470, it replaced an 11th century water fortress and was reshaped into a Rococo residence during the 18th century. The three storey main building with its hipped roof stands alongside a 16th century farm courtyard, a gatehouse tower from 1759 and an orangery from around 1750. The property is best appreciated from its surroundings, amid meadows and woodland within the Altmühltal nature park.
