In Zell, a district of Hilpoltstein, a classicist building from the 1820s is the only surviving wing of a former castle. Built under the direction of Friedrich von Boller between 1822 and 1824, it replaced an earlier manor whose origins trace back to a Hofmark documented since the Middle Ages. Since 1872, the building has housed an institution for deaf people, founded by the Franciscan sisters of Dillingen, and it still serves this social and educational purpose today. The facade, with its entrance projection facing the courtyard and its gable adorned with a niche statue, reflects the classical architecture of the early 19th century.
