Schloss Dürrenmungenau stands in a hamlet belonging to the municipality of Abenberg in Bavaria, surrounded by a broad water moat that gives it the look of a pond. The present building, rebuilt in baroque style in the early eighteenth century on the remains of a medieval stronghold first recorded in 1278, was reshaped around 1900 in historicist taste by the barons Leuckart von Weißdorf, owners of the estate since 1896. Visible today are a two storey main house with a tower like central projection, a hop barn dated 1736 and a former washhouse, all enclosed by a sandstone wall topped with small onion domed turrets.
