To make a day of it

Burg Windsbach stands in Windsbach (Landkreis Ansbach), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Burg Windsbach no longer stands as the medieval fortress it once was: only its former keep survives, now serving as the town tower of Windsbach. Likely built in the 12th century and first recorded in 1253, it passed through the hands of the counts of Oettingen, the lords of Dornberg, and the burgraves of Nuremberg before being destroyed during the First Margrave War in 1449/50. The lower stories, made of square-cut stone, date from the 13th century, while the upper half-timbered, plastered floors were added in the 17th and 18th centuries.
