To make a day of it
Schloss Schillingsfürst stands in Schillingsfürst (Landkreis Ansbach), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Schillingsfürst stands on a rocky spur above the Bavarian town bearing its name. Seat of the princely Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst family for centuries, the site saw several earlier fortresses destroyed before the present three-winged baroque building was constructed during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The princely family still resides here and manages the surrounding farm and forest estate.
What to know
- The castle remains the residence of the Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst princely family, which may limit access to parts of the building.
- The site sits on a rocky spur separated by two former moats, meaning an uphill approach from the town below.
- The adjoining Hofgarten park and the family's neo-Gothic mausoleum lie to the east of the castle.
- As no opening hours or prices are available in the current information, visitors should check directly before planning a visit.
