The Topplerschlösschen is a small tower house from the 14th century, standing in the Tauber valley near Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It takes its name from Heinrich Toppler, mayor of the free imperial city of Rothenburg, who built it as a summer residence on a stone base once surrounded by an artificial pond. Two heavily overhanging timber-framed upper floors sit atop the rubble-stone foundation, and the interior, furnished with pieces from the 16th to the 19th century, can be visited. It survives as a rare, almost complete example of this type of small moated manor house from the late Middle Ages.
