Stadtschloss Treuchtlingen stands in Treuchtlingen (Landkreis Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Stadtschloss Treuchtlingen stands in the town centre, on the site of a former moated fortification that the lords of Pappenheim turned into a Renaissance residence. It was here, in 1594, that Gottfried Heinrich zu Pappenheim was born, the cavalry general of the Thirty Years' War later immortalised by Schiller in Wallensteins Tod. The building forms a four-wing complex around an inner courtyard, with surviving stucco ceilings, historic tiled stoves and remnants of the old fortified walls. A statue of the general stands in the former moat, beside a stone cross he had erected in 1620.
